A blog is born

I have always been one to try things. That's the entire reason this website (and blog) exist. Taking things apart has always been in my nature. I need to know how it works. Hence the reason I'm creating my own blog from scratch - instead of using wordpress. Tumblr was fine for what it was but it left me with too little control. If I'm going to take the time to write something, I want it to be exactly what I want.

Part of the reason for going at this alone is my reluctancy towards learning the protocals of others. The wordpress platform may be extremely intuitive but if I'm going to spend the time learning how to use it, I want to know why it does what it does - and then I want to do it myself.

Of course I don't expect everything to be perfect right away. As with anything, there is a learning curve (and my SQL skills have been gathering dust for the better part of two years). But it's nice to have my own place to write about whatever I want. I promise future entries will be more interesting and design or type related.
